Ann Johnston (with Kelli Murphy) - presentation about us, the TIENet group. All about you!
Ally Tapp - presentation about www.edmodo.com.
Signing-up students. Recommend using the same usernames and passwords as the district account. Edmodo 'cuts' off the student's last name so that only their first name with last initial shows. Email addresses are not required.
A teacher account gives you the option to create groups and classes. Once the group is created, a code is given to share with the students. Brings them into the group.
We all created accounts and joined Ally's PETE&C group. Some of the options are great, but have only basic options such as polling (not a survey tool but just a poll, one question at a time only). The chalk option is not live until the teacher of the group launches it. The controls are from the teacher.
Chalk option is good place for real time conversation (like skype text) and peer editing. All editing are recorded and plays like a video,
Edmodo is a private community. The teacher can control what is seen publically so that the parents can see it.
Some discussion was had about whether showing student work, comments or whatever is legal to put on the Internet without parent permission. Should that be covered in an AUP?
Does this resource replace MOODLE? No. The CMS Moodle is built for better navigation that this. edmodo is just a listing according to date entry.

Round 1, For teachers. Present tips -- has been out for a bit
Round 2. student videos has been opened this week.
Ann still has some cameras available for teacher use. Please contact her for more information. All cameras will need to be returned by summer as she needs them for other programs.
WARNING: some have stated that the videos aren't able to be seen in Firefox or other programs. Gettysburg/Kelli mentioned that one must install a CODECs file on the actual computer. Once loaded, no problems at all.

Her district is using this resource for blogging with teachers and students. REcommend putting everyone into a group blog to avoid needing to "become friends" with someone to read and comment on their blog.
Must be IN THE GROUP to make entries or your input will default to your individual page. Making sure everything saves to the group.
Create a GROUP, add your individual users and then make sure all happens there.
WARNING: Limitations to editing -- page names cannot be edited, nor can comments to posts.
Following the last Collaboration Day, Sue will send out the bill to districts. The bill will reflect dates and numbers but not names.
TO DO (summer project): Categorize tools to include purpose, recommendations, and examples. Tie it to Blooms and LOTI.
Include criteria for some of these tools.
Should we build the criteria list before picking the tools? Should we break out groups to specialize in specific areas? Should we put it on a separate wiki to be shared with everyone but linked to TIENet?
